On Friday 1 August, Sunnybank celebrated having two of the three Regional Queensland Training Award Finalists in the School-based Apprentice or Trainee of the Year Category. Since 2004 Sunnybank State High School has had 5 students either shortlisted as Regional/State Finalists and/or Winners of these very prestigious awards. This year both Paul Fox and Jami-Lee Upkett represented the school in an outstanding manner.
Unfortunately there could be only one winner and Jami-Lee Upkett was named the Regional School-Based Trainee/Apprentice Winner for outstanding achievement by a Queensland school-based apprentice or trainee. Jami-Lee also took out the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Category for outstanding achievement by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student within the Queensland vocational education and training sector.
On the night Jami-Lee walked away with two Framed Certificates, two Crystal Trophies and two cheques for $500. Congratulations go to both Jami-Lee and Paul Fox for their excellence throughout their School-Based Traineeships and Apprenticeship Programs. Our best wishes go to Jami-Lee for her preparation for the State Awards to be held on 11 September.
