| Sunnybank SHS Wins 1st, 2nd & 3rd Live Life Art Prize `08 |

Sunnybank State High School was invited to enter the Brookland Village (Romulus St. Robertson) LIVE LIFE VILLAGES ART PRIZE which was held from June 11 to 13. The Art Prize has three sections, an Open Section, with an acquisitive art prize of $5,000, A School’s Section, open to Secondary students only and a non-competitive display from Queensland Villages Residents.
The Theme for the School’s Section was “Impact of Olympics on life of people and the environment". Each school could enter 10 artworks. We entered a variety of Year 11 and 12 paintings, lino-prints, and a mixed-media piece. The winners were announced on Saturday 12 July.
We are proud to announce that Sunnybank State High School students won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes as well as the School Prize of $500. The winners were:
1st Prize - CHARLENE TAN (Yr 11) - $300 Art Shed gift voucher - paintings
2nd Prize – VICTORIA HENDERSON (Yr 11) - $100 Art Shed gift voucher – prints
3rd Prize – ROXY BOWERS (Yr 11) - $25 Art Shed gift voucher – paintings
Highly Commended – CHARLENE TAN – for her lino-prints
Highly Commended – CAROLINE LOPEZ – for her lino-prints
Other students’ works were entered by NATHAN PERRY (Mixed Media artwork), KRISTEN SURGENOR (Acrylic paintings), THAO VAN (Hand-coloured Lino-prints), STEPHANIE WU (Hand-coloured Lino-prints), and STEPHANIE WU (Acrylic paintings).
The winning students will be awarded their certificates and gifts on Assembly on the 28th July by Robyn Devine, Project Coordinator of LIVE LIFE VILLAGES.
The Visual Art teachers of these students Mrs. Chang and Ms. King would like to thank these students for their wonderful work and for winning the School’s Prize Award of $500 and Queensland Villages for the opportunity to enter such a great Art Exhibition. CONGRATULATIONS to all who entered.
